Fahrenheit 451 Essay

                                                                          Fahrenheit 451

In the book one of the major arguments is technology in the book getting in the way of people's understanding of the way the world has been working. In the beginning of the book Montag is doing a routine that he has been doing for a long time. After awhile Montag meets a young girl named Clarisse who shows him things he has never noticed before. After a while of hanging out with Clarisse he wants to tell his wife what he has noticed and learned about the world, but his wife is very ignorant. And this is where technology comes into play because his wife only cares about her stupid TV and how good her show is. Once Montag sees how his wife is acting while he wants to tell her the wonders of the world and books all his wife is doing is being ignorant and ignoring Montag and keeps saying how good the TV show is or is talking about the fourth wall. And this is where Montag starts to change and see his world and there "world" in a different way.

Connections with the book and our world are very similar and scary because it's very true. One example of similarities is when they say that it is best if the students don't get curious because then it will be a problem. The way that is similar to our word is when we are in school we are being told to follow the rules, read the text book, do the assignment, and after that we have five more periods of the same routine. The schools want students to follow the routine, but now kids are starting to change and once they notice something they will look into it. For example the gun control strikes were made by students after they saw that the government wasn't doing anything to help.

The way the author uses syntax in the book is by not telling the reader what is going on in certain parts so that the reader can be left off visualizing what is going on. One example for this was when Mildred failed a suicide attempt the author did not say right away she tried to kill her self, all he said was she was deeply asleep and there was an empty container of pills. The way the author uses symbolism is with Montag's hands like when his HANDS are BURNING his surroundings. Or when his HANDS KILLED Beatty and finally when his HANDS TOOK the book. And that is why Montag's hands are a big form of symbolism in the book.
